After coming under criticism for purchasing expensive video cameras with his taxpayer funded expense account, it looks like the star of the Dale-TV is facing more.

CTV News has learned London taxpayers bought former Ward 9 councillor Dale Henderson another pair of Samsung digital cameras. This time in the final months of his term.

Henderson bought the cameras with his expense account last April, after he had already announced he was not seeking re-election.

He used them one time - that was to record parts of the final council meeting.

The same speech was recorded by city hall and can be accessed on the city's website.

He's now using them for personal projects and makes no apologies.

On Dec. 2, 2014, one day after his term officially ended, the former councillor submitted an expense claim of $815.60 for the two new cameras.

Reached by phone Wednesday, Henderson refused to do an on-camera interview. He said he didn't have to justify the expense.

In an email to CTV News, city clerk Cathy Saunders says the expense was approved based on information submitted that the expense would provide him with a method to execute his ward communication outreach commitments.

The original cameras Henderson came under fire for were 'donated,' one to the city hall communications department and another to a religious organization.

Henderson says he didn't even ask for a tax receipt.

Current city councillor Josh Morgan says the city's expense rules need tightening.

"This particular item was purchased in April and is being expensed in December, raises a lot of questions for me. And this is why we need to take a real close look at how expense accounts can be used particularly leading into an election year.

"I think there should be more restrictions on their use during that time period to ensure spending is for the public good and not for the councillor's own purposes."

Henderson says he's now using the new Samsung cameras for personal pursuits, and will be recording a singing competition in Woodstock this weekend.
