Provincial police in Perth, Grey and Bruce County warned drivers of treacherous road conditions throughout the region Tuesday.

Residents were being asked to stay off the roads if possible as blowing snow and crashes prompted road closures in the counties.

Perth County OPP officers were called to numerous motor vehicle collisions Tuesday morning with slippery roads, and snow squalls and strong winds creating poor to no visibility for motorists.

Schools in many parts of midwestern Ontario were closed, but children were pretty happy to be out playing in the snow.

As for the adults, many are saying it's a little too much, too soon and hoping there isn't a repeat of last winter.

Susan Chapman, a bus driver in Huron County says, "I think this is early, there's a real shift out there. I don't know what Mother Nature's doing, but get ready it's going to be quite a winter."

Paul adds "It kind of happened overnight. You'd look outside and think it's been like this for a few weeks, but no it [started] yesterday."

Police are asking anyone heading out in a storm to keep their headlights and tail lights on and clear of snow and to slow down.
