Just two years after a storm dubbed the 'Nightmare Before Christmas' stranded travellers, golfers are hitting the links across southwestern Ontario.

Environment Canada says in 2013, millions of people were being affected by a major storm and everyone was talking about the polar vortex.

But 2015's holiday season has been mild and snow-free, with warm weather records falling daily across the region.

As for Christmas, forecasters say a deepening low pressure system over James Bay will track towards the North Pole Christmas Eve, leaving behind balmy weather.

Temperatures already rose well into the mid-teens in much of southwestern Ontario on Christmas Eve morning and more temperature records are expected to be broken.

Besides the mild temperatures, sunshine is expected in many regions as well.

Cooler conditions are expected Christmas Eve night, with strong southwesterly winds, especially east of Georgian Bay and Lake Huron.

Travel conditions are expected to be good for everyone, with a quiet, mild Christmas Day in store.

Environment Canada expects only one person - and a herd of reindeer - might have preferred some snow for Christmas.
