City Hall and the Health Unit are testing groundwater and soil after the discovery of a potentially dangerous chemical in the east end of the city.

The Middlesex London Health Unit first found trichlororethylene (TCE) during groundwater testing last year at commercial and industrial properties.

The area being tested is west of Highbury, north of Brydges, east of Ashland and south of Wilton Ave.

The London Transit Commission (LTC) is helping as the contamination could be related to operations at the LTC property on Highbury Ave. years ago.

Initial tests found that TCE levels registered at the site show that the health risk is very low.
