A Huron County man has been charged with mischief after tossing a mayoral candidate’s signs in the ditch.

Last week, police were told about some missing campaign signs in the race for South Huron mayor.

They monitored some signs at a busy intersection and say they caught a man pulling election signs out of the ground and throwing them in the ditch.

Police have since charged 64-year-old John Regier with mischief.

Mayoral candidate Maureen Cole says she’s had some signs go missing but did not file a complaint.

Jim Dietrich is the other candidate for mayor. CTV News has contacted him but have yet to confirm whether it was his signs taken or not.
