Messy road conditions along Highways 401 and 402 in southwestern Ontario resulted in several vehicles sliding into ditches Friday.

OPP closed the westbound lanes of Highway 402 between Oil Heritage Road and Mandaumin Road for about two hours Friday morning to remove a transport truck and a half a dozen other vehicles from ditches.

Chatham-Kent OPP also said its officers responded to vehicles in the ditch on Highway 401 eastbound between Orford Road and Blacks Road.

Police are urging drivers to slow down and leave lots of extra space between vehicles.

Drivers are also dealing with fog in the region.
