The Salvation Army's Kettle Campaign in London has set a new record.

A total of $648,173 was raised in the Forest City, surpassing its goal of $500,000.

In 2015, just over $552,000 was donated to the campaign.

There was also a record set of $10,815 for online donations made through fillthekettle.com.

“We are blown away by the generosity of Londoners,” says Shannon Wise, the Public Relations & Development Representative for the Ontario Great Lakes Division in a news release.

“We want to sincerely thank our donors and our volunteers for their kindness and dedication.”

Money raised helped provide food to 5117 families and 6663 toys for needy children.
