Provincial police say they've received reports of an apparent new scam involving persons representing themselves as Hydro One employees.
Police say the fraudster advised the complainants that their Hydro One accounts were in arrears and required immediate action to clear up. The complainants were instructed to purchase prepaid debit cards from a specific website and then provide the caller with the personal identification number for the cards.
OPP say anyone who receives calls of this nature should contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre at 1-888-495-8501.
