The clean-up continues for many homeowners in London after heavy rain that left streets and basements flooded.

A total of 68.9 millimetres of rain was reported through Wednesday and up until 8 a.m. on Thursday at the London airport.

That's nearly 30 millimetres more than what was forecast by Environment Canada in a special weather statement, though they had said more was possible in localized areas.

A number of streets were closed Wednesday evening due to flooding and downed trees and hydro lines, which also cut power to a number of neighbourhoods, though London Hydro isn't reporting any current outages.

While much of that was already cleared late Wednesday, those with flooded basements are still cleaning up.

Ken Usher, an estimator with Winmar, says they've been going non-stop, "It's been crazy busy...I think as of noon today we'd fielded 150 calls."

Residents are being asked to stay away from creeks and rivers as the heavy rain means fast-moving water, which could pose a danger.

If you have questions about flooded basements, you can find information on the City of London website.
