The quick actions of a fast food worker in Owen Sound are being credited for keeping an impaired driver off the street.

Around 10 p.m. Saturday night, a lone driver and his dog pulled up at the drive-thru window of an east-side restaurant.

The employee was concerned the customer had had too much to drink to be driving especially after seeing an open beer bottle between the driver’s legs.

The employee brought the situation to the attention of the manager who contacted the Owen Sound Police.

Officers arrived on scene as the driver was just pulling his vehicle on to the roadway.

The 24 year-old male driver blew over twice the legal limit.

He will appear next week in provincial court to answer to the charges.

His driver’s licence has been automatically suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.
