Court security officers have seized hundreds of items from people entering the Lambton County Court House, prompting a reminder from Sarnia police.

Police are telling the public to avoid bringing in articles that could possibly be used as weapons.  This could be anything from scissors, nail files, Swiss Army knives and screw drivers.

Members of the public are will be screened through a metal detector and by a court security officer.  Anything deemed to be a security risk will be confiscated before entry into the court house is allowed.

Over the course of a year, security officers seized all kinds of sharp items, including pieces of a lawn mower blade, X-acto knives, syringes, cap guns, lighters that resemble small caliber handguns and people attempting to bring in beer cans.

Whenever possible, security personnel will allow people to secure items in their vehicles.
