Lambton County OPP are reminding drivers to be aware of quickly changing winter conditions after responding to about 30 crash calls on Thursday.
The clean-up continued Friday after dozens of vehicles were involved in collisions or slid into the ditch, mainly along westbound Highway 402 in the stretch from Forest Road to Nauvoo Road.
Blowing and drifting snow in several areas from Strathroy to Sarnia had made driving difficult for much of the day Thursday.
No one was injured in the crashes, but the hazardous conditions prompted OPP to escort motorists from the area, leaving their vehicles behind until the weather improved.
Police and several towing companies spent much of Friday on the highway pulling vehicles from ditches and the median, and motorists were being asked to be aware of lane closures and delays in the area.
Meanwhile OPP have taken to social media to again reminding drivers to be prepared for winter weather, as it can change very quickly.
OPP Sgt. Dave Rektor says, "Social media, you know, it's an exciting tool for us to use. It gives us a more personal touch, we can interact with a lot more people."
He adds that it helps the OPP answer questions and educate people about the limitations police face.
Officials are reminding motorists to stay focused on the road and other vehicles, and eliminate distractions - slow down, stay alert and stay in control.
