Organizers for this year’s Canada Day celebrations in London will have to contend with some morning showers, but Environment Canada says all should clear up by this afternoon.

That’s good news for the 7th annual London Celebrates Canada being held in Harris Park.

Celebrations get underway at noon with the First Nations’ gathering. At 2pm the opening ceremonies will begin with the National Anthem followed by a citizenship ceremony. The Canadian Harvard Aerobatic Team will conduct a flyby of the park.

Stage events begin at 3 p.m. that include local singer Julia Haggarty, The Flux Dance Festival, Pete Denomme and The Cosmic Cowboys, and many more.

The Upper Thames Military Reenactment Society will fire a historical cannon five times throughout the day to pay tribute to the 149th birthday of Canada.

The day’s events will culminate with fireworks set to begin at 10 p.m.
