Just months after its last review, the rules governing city councillor expense accounts may be changed again

The move comes in the wake of an exemption request by Coun. Bill Armstrong.

Armstrong's request got a rocky start after he failed to attend Tuesday’s Corporate Services Committee meeting.

His letter sought permission to sponsor a parade float and Christmas carollers in his ward, but it did not include the cost.

Earlier this year, new rules clamped down on councillors' annual expense accounts.

Armstrong tells CTV News that contrary to reports, he was not seeking reimbursment for a personal float. His intention was to sponsor a community float.

The committee recommended another policy review - taking a step towards the previous council's pattern of continually adjusting the expense policy.
