A Michigan man is facing charges after piloting his boat more than 10 metres onto the shore area of a Sarnia residence.

Sarnia police were called to a home in the 1400 block of Andover Lane along the shores of Lake Huron around 5 p.m. Friday for the incident.

Officials say a more than 10-metre-long boat was found onshore with the operator still aboard.

Fortunately it did not strike the residence or anyone onshore.

The operator, a 35-year-old Michigan man was transported to police headquarters where a breath test found he had two-and-a-half times the legal limit of blood alcohol for operating a vessel.

As a result, Timothy Kelly of Grosse Point, Mich. has been charged with impaired operation of a vessel, operating a vessel with over the legal limit and dangerous operation of a vessel.
