It's good news for commuters in the north end of the city, as the Windermere Bridge is set to reopen Friday afternoon.

The work is eight weeks ahead of schedule.

This will come as welcomed news for parents trying to get their kids to school on Tuesday, or Western students trying to make their way to campus.

The bridge has been closed to traffic since May.

Completed work includes concrete repairs, removal of expansion joints, new railings and guide rails and a widened bridge platform to accommodate future bike lanes and a multi-use pathway.

“We are pleased to be able to reopen Windermere Bridge ahead of schedule and thank Londoners for their patience during the closure,” says Edward Soldo, Director, Roads and Transportation in a news release.

Repair work below the bridge is anticipated to be completed by mid-September.
