Three London elementary schools have been selected to receive a $1000 grant to help implement their healthy eating programs.

The trio have also been shortlisted for an additional $1000 through a Facebook contest for the best school program for healthy eating.

The schools include Bonaventure Meadows Public School, St. Anne Catholic School and Wilfrid Jury School.

It's all a part of Metro’s Green Apple School Program.

It awards grants to schools across the province that create programming that encourages healthy eating.

Students will learn how to prepare healthy meals, the benefits of a diet full of fruits and vegetables and even prepare a school cookbook.
