OPP search for missing swimmer near Port Burwell

Provincial police are combing the waters near Port Burwell, as officials search for a missing swimmer.

OPP say they received a call around 5:30 p.m. on Sunday for a missing swimmer in Port Burwell, which is located in Bayham Township.

Through their investigation, police learned that a group of youths were swimming near a pier when they came to a deeper section of water. OPP say one male was struggling to swim and went under the water.

When the group of youths made it back to shore, they noticed one of the swimmers – a 15-year-old from Malahide Township – was missing.

A search was conducted on Sunday, but was called off due to the weather – they returned to the beach on Monday morning.
