A major winter storm is blasting across Midwestern Ontario and is causing havoc on area roads.

High winds and blowing snow are creating areas of zero visibility and very hazardous driving conditions.

OPP are strongly suggesting non-essential travel be postponed.

As of early Thursday afternoon, Huron-Perth Grey-Bruce and northern parts of Wellington County remained under a snow squall warning, with Environment Canada warning of occasional near-whiteout conditions and heavy snowfall.

All county roads in Perth and Wellington are closed, with numerous roads and highways shut down in Grey-Bruce and Huron Counties.

Motorists caught driving on a closed roadway may result in a $110 fine and three demerit points if convicted.
