A 55 year-old Scarborough man made it easy for Owen Sound police after he called 911 to report that he was impaired and stuck on the east side rail trail.

Police say the man called around 6:40 a.m., as he was stuck and lost in extremely cold weather.

When police arrived they found the vehicle stuck approximately 100 metres off the roadway along the rail trail near Superior Street.

The driver was unfamiliar with the area and thought he had been travelling on a rural road when he slid off the trail and became stuck.

The man was arrested and brought to police headquarters for breath tests, which he failed.

The man was released from custody on a promise to appear in court Feb. 25.
