Localized flooding on area roads had drivers doing their best to find alternate routes.

Environment Canada issued a special weather statement for much of southwestern Ontario warning of heavy rain on Tuesday.

A cold front moving through the region and a very moist air mass brought showers and isolated thunderstorms.

Rainfall amounts of 30 to 40 millimetres were expected in some areas, with Environment Canada calling for localized amounts exceeding 50 millimetres in some areas.
