A 25-year-old North Perth woman has been charged after a pedestrian was struck while crossing the street in Listowel on Saturday evening.

Perth County OPP say they were called to the intersection fo Wallace Avenue North and Elizabeth Street around 7:10 p.m. for a collision.

An investigation found a female pedestrian had been waiting at the northwest corner of the intersection to cross from west to east while a motorist operating a Chevrolet Trailblazer had been stopped in the eastbound lane on Elizabeth Street.

When the light turned green the motorist proceeded to turn north on Wallace Avenue striking the pedestrian in the crosswalk and knocking her to the ground.

The 56-year-old woman was transported to the Listowel Memorial Hospital and treated for minor injuries.

The driver of the Trailblazer has been charged with failing to yield to a pedestrian.
