A 39-year-old Listowel woman is facing charges after an alleged internal theft of cash from the West Grey Police Service.

The Ontario Provincial Police West Region Criminal Operations branch was contacted by West Grey police on Sept. 5, following a report of an internal theft of cash from the force.

After an ongoing investigation, the criminal operations branch, with help from Wellington County OPP and West Grey police, arrestedthe 39-year-old woman.

She has been charged with theft under $5,000 and fraud under $5,000.

The accused had been employed with West Grey police since Jan. 2011 as a civilian records manager. She is scheduled to appear in court in Walkerton on Nov. 18.
