St. Thomas police say a city employee has been charged after reports of false health insurance claims.

Officers were contacted by the Manulife Insurance Company on Nov. 20, 2014 regarding false claims involving a City of St. Thomas employee.

Police say an investigation found there had been numerous false claims made by the employee over a one-year period, from June 18, 2013 to July 8, 2014.

As a result, 40-year-old Amanda Graham of St. Thomas has been charged with one count of fraud over $5,000 and seven counts of uttering forged documents.

Graham was arrested on April 28, and has since been released with conditions and a future court date.
