Oxford County OPP say a crash that shut down Highway 401 east of Ingersoll for hours on Monday was a result of dangerous driving.
Police were called to the eastbound lanes between Foldens Line and Sweaburg Road around 1:45 p.m.
Investigators say a pickup truck came into contact with two vehicles and two tractor trailers, causing one of the tractor trailers to jackknife across all three lanes of the highway.
The male driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with minor injuries. No one else was hurt.
William Coutts, 32, of Waterloo, who was driving the pickup, is facing charges of:
- driving while under suspension
- dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
- driving while disqualified
He is scheduled to appear in a Woodstock court at a future time.
The highway remained closed until around 4 p.m.
