A 21-year-old man has been charged following a weekend crash in the Township of Malahide that sent four to hospital, one with serious injuries.

Henry Wall of Niagara Falls is facing charges of impaired driving causing bodily harm and operating a motor vehicle over the legal limit causing bodily harm.

Wall was driving his 2001 Toyota car westbound on Ron McNeil Line when OPP say he failed to stop for a stop sign at Imperial Road and was struck by a 2009 Ford pickup travelling south on Imperial Road.

The driver and front-seat passenger - a 20-year-old Niagara Falls man - in the Toyota were not injured, but a passenger in the back seat, a 20-year-old male from Southgate Township, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. He is currently in stable condition.

The three people in the pickup, a 71-year-old male driver and his 67-year-old wife, both from Tillsonburg, and their 15-year-old granddaughter from the Township of Bayham were all transported to hospital with minor injuries and later released.

Everyone involved was wearing their seatbelts.

Wall was held in custody pending a bail hearing and later released on a recognizance.
