Home sales in the region are rebounding in the latter part of the year after a slow winter.

The London and St. Thomas Association of Realtors (LSTAR) says 2014 sales are now on track to beat last year's numbers.

Close to 800 homes sold in August and that figure is the highest for the month since 2007.

So far this year, 6,102 homes have sold in the region, an increase of seven per cent over 2013 at this same time.

Realtors say the improving job market is behind the upward trend.

“However, there are still a lot of great homes out there and more being listed every day,” says Jim Holody, LSTAR’s president.

The average price for a home in Elgin and Middlesex Counties was up 3.8 per cent for detached homes ($271,033) and 2.1 per cent for condos ($182,111).
