A family is mourning the loss of child after a toddler drowned on a farm near Lucknow.
It happened on a farm on St. Helen's line in Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh Township.
According to Huron County OPP, around 9 p.m. Sunday a group of siblings were playing outside when an 18-month female wandered away to an adjacent barn where livestock were being kept.
When members of the family realized the child had wandered off they began to search for her. According to police she was found unresponsive in a water trough within the barn.
The child was rushed to hospital by paramedics where attempts were made to revive her. Sadly the attempts were unsuccessful and she was pronounced deceased at hospital.
An investigation into the incident is underway and a post-mortem examination will be conducted in London.
The name of the child has not been released.
