The owners of two London homes housing up to 32 people have been fined $3,500 and given a probation order.
Between the two houses at 1703 and 1709 Beaverbrook Ave., there were 17 bedrooms.
“This was one of the most intensified single detached dwellings we have seen. Based on a bed count, a minimum of 32 occupants resided at these homes in this developing area,” says Orest Katolyk, the city’s manager of licensing and municipal law enforcement services.
The city became aware of the problem after a complaint was lodged in January.
An investigation led to a conviction of having dwelling units in a residential zone that contained more than five bedrooms.
“Our role is to protect the amenity, stability and character of London’s neighbourhoods through the enforcement of city by-laws,” Katolyk says.
