Oxford OPP have released the name of the person who died on the westbound 401 near Ayr on Wednesday.
The multi-vehicle collision occurred around 12 p.m. Wednesday in the westbound lanes of the highway, west of Oxford Township Road 8.
A westbound Chevrolet struck the rear of a Hyundai SUV.
The car then spun out of control and left the roadway and ended in a ditch.
The lone male driver of the car was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The female driver of the SUV suffered minor injuries.
Deceased is Robert Shelly, 67, of Aylmer.
OPP say no charges will be laid in this incident.
