Five-hundred minks roamed free for a time in Brant County after police say that they were let out overnight.

Provincial police say unknown individuals gained access to farm on Maple Grove Road early in the morning and released the animals.

Though police say most of the animals have been recovered several of the mink were recently born and have a low chance of survival because it is impossible to be matched with their mothers.

OPP are looking for witnesses to come forward. No suspects have been identified at this time.
