Federal Industry Minister James Moore emphasized the need to work with business to build the economy while speaking at the London Chamber of Commerce on Monday.

Moore is on a cross-country tour to discuss how the government can help the manufacturing sector continue to grow in Canada and globally.

In a statement he said, "To ensure that Canadian manufacturers remain strong, our government has kept taxes low, reduced red tape, and promoted trade abroad and skills training at home—all of which are necessary conditions to create jobs and grow our economy."

Manufacturing - which employs about 1.7 million Canadians - has bounced back and sales are up more than 25 per cent since the recession, according to Industry Canada.
