REGINA -- Sharp-eyed staff at a Regina, Sask. financial outlet have helped police arrest two men, including one from Ontario, who are accused of trying to defraud the business.
Police say employees noted that a customer trying to obtain a loan last Friday fit the description of someone who had committed fraud and identity theft at other locations of the same business.
A suspect arrested at the outlet fled to a parked vehicle but was arrested, along with a second male who was waiting at the scene.
Officers later seized bogus identification from the vehicle that included Ontario birth certificates and Indian status cards.
They also turned up printers, scanners, a laminating machine and computers.
Jeffrey Paul Renecker, a 38-year-old London resident, and Shawn Richard Smith of no fixed address, appeared in court Tuesday on several charges.
