Several local families have been left without loved ones after four people were killed in collisions on area roads in a matter of days.
Two of the collisions were allegedly the results of impaired driving.
The most recent was Sunday evening near Kitchener when a 29-year-old London woman was killed in a two vehicle collision along Highway 7/8. Susana Dumitru of London was in the back seat of the Mazda when the crash occurred. She was taken to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Her two-month old son George, who was sitting beside her, was airlifted to SickKids in Toronto. As of early Monday afternoon, he was said to be in critical but stable condition.
Ahmed Darwish, 26, of Kitchener is charged with impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous driving causing bodily harm, failure to provide a breath sample and failure to take a drug test.
On Thursday, November 24th, 60-year-old Gloria Chivers of Thorndale was killed in a collision on Sunningdale Road and Richmond Street. Jinghao Zhou,23, of London is facing several charges including impaired driving causing death. He is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday morning for a bail hearing.
Monday morning provincial police released the identity of an elderly woman who was killed in a three vehicle collision just west of London on Saturday.
Marion Satchwill, 81, of Srathroy-Caradoc was killed and three young individuals sustained life-threatening injuries but are all in stable condition.
Police also released the indentity of a driver killed in a single vehicle collision that occurred Sunday morning northwest of Strathroy. Quentin MacGregor, 35, of North Middlesex died after his car rolled into the Ausable River.
Lastly Tuesday morning one person was taken to hospital with critical injuries following a head on collision near Listowel. This following a collision Monday morning in which a 13-year-old girl was seriously hurt when the vehicle she was in struck a tree and a hydro pole near Listowel.
