Two families have been displaced after fire destroyed their homes in two nearby communities north of London Friday.

In Blyth, northeast of Clinton, fire crews arrived to a home on McConnell Street Friday night to find it engulfed by flames. The family was home at the time the fire started. Fire officials say it had working smoke detectors and all escaped safely. While the home could not be saved, firefighters prevented the blaze from spreading to neighbouring structures.

Another home was destroyed in nearby Milverton, north of Stratford. Crews started fighting the blaze on West Street early Friday morning. None of the three residents were injured. The damage is estimated at $150,000 dollars. Crews stayed on scene all day Friday to extinguish hot spots. Both homes are a total loss.
