Three people were injured and the driver has been charged after a rollover on Highway 402 on Thursday evening.

Emergency crews responded to the westbound lanes of the 402 at Oil Heritage Road around 5:10 p.m. for a rollover crash.

According to Lambton County OPP, witnesses said a pickup was westbound on the highway when it suddenly swerved and left the roadway, striking a guard rail and rolling several times before coming to rest on the driver's side in an active traffic lane.

Three occupants were able to get out of the pickup before emergency crews arrived, and were later transported to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The driver of the pickup, a 19-year-old Alvinston Township man, has been charged with careless driving as a result of the crash.

The crash shut down the highway temporarily so the vehicle could be removed from the scene.

Lambton OPP is asking anyone with information on the collision to call 1-888-310-1122 or 519-882-1011, or their nearest police authority.
