As an investigation into his death continues, friends are sharing their memories of Aaron Ferkranus, a 26-year-old who died after a weekend altercation in downtown London.
Ferkranus died on Sunday evening after being transported to hospital in critical condition early Saturday as a result of what police are calling an assault.
Officers were called to Robinson Hall/Thorny Devil at 398 Talbot Street for reports of a disturbance outside the nightclub.
Surveillance video appears to show Ferkranus punching man, putting him out cold, then being grabbed by the man's friends and having his jacked pulled over his head and being punched. Security staff then arrive and restrain him.
John Scott-Pearse, owner of Robinson Hall and the Thorny Devil, says he's concerned about social media posts questioning the actions of security staff.
"Door staff are screened, licenced, trained by the Ontario government. We can only hire people from their pool."
Staff adds that at no time were choke holds used - only limbs were restrained - and bar staff were constantly checking on Ferkranus to make sure he was breathing properly.
Ontario's Special Investigations Unit is now involved in the investigation because Ferkranus died after being in police custody.
Their investigation continues. No arrests have been made in the incident and no charges have been laid.
On a memorial page set up for family and friends to remember Ferkranus, many are posting about their memories of him.
Melissa Sturgeon says, "I love you so much Aaron. No one will ever be able to fill the position of my best friend because no one can take you're place. My heart is broken and a piece of me is now gone."
And Emmanuel Angok writes, "Aaron, you were truly a great friend and I can truly say you left a footprint in my life, all the times we spent whether partying, playing ball, or just kicking it and talking about life."
