London police say an assault by a masked man reported at Sir G.E. Cartier public school did not occur and there is no concern for public safety.

Earlier Friday, police reported they had arrested a man then determined he was not involved in the alleged attack. He was released unconditionally.

Investigators were called to the school on Chiddington Avenue around 11:30 a.m. Thursday.

A 12-year-old student had alleged a man wearing a mask assaulted her while she was on the playground.

The London Police Service Family Consultants and Victim Services Unit is reportedly providing support to the young girl and her family.

Help for the school community is being provided by the Community Services Unit School Safety Officer.

Police say no charges are being laid and no suspects are being sought in the incident.
