Premier Kathleen Wynne visited with university students in London on Tuesday morning.
Wynne took a morning run with Western University students on campus and spoke to students at the Thompson Recreation and Athletic Centre about the importance of having an educated workforce with opportunities for young people.
"Our educated work force is the single most important pillar of our economy,” says Wynne. “If we don't have an educated work force, if we don't have a work force that can compete with the globe, with people around the globe, then we're not going to have the advantage that we need.
“We're 13.5 million people on a huge piece of land huge geography and we need that educated work force to allow us to compete."
Wynne also toured Western's Active Learning Space, which allows students to share their expertise on topics with each other.
While in the city, Wynne said her government will soon introduce a program called Experience Ontario, designed to help students make decisions on their career paths by getting experience with an employer in the field.
"A young person who has graduated from high school, or they go on to college or university...we're going to work with employers that will help them make a decision about what they want to do going forward. We're looking at a number of things that will help and give them hands on experience."
Wynne was then headed the University of Waterloo campus to speak to students there Tuesday afternoon.
