London police are crediting tips from the public with the arrest of a suspect sought in connection with two incidents of racist vandalism.

Investigators released a photo of the suspect just over a week ago requesting public assistance in identifying a man seen on suveillance video.

On Monday, 30-year-old Michael McDiarmid of no fixed address was arrested and has been charged with break and enter and mischief.

The charges are in relation to two cases of property damage in April at an apartment building on Connaught Avenue and a house on Harley Street.

Police say the two incidents were hate motivated toward the black community.
