Anyone using the bike paths through Ivey Park Thursday night may have found their way blocked by hordes of people staring at their phones trying to “Catch-em-all.”

An estimated two thousand Pokemon Go players descended on the park at the Fork of the Thames for a gathering put on by Forest City Comicon.

Organizers paid for devices within the game that lure the creatures to one area. According to organizers, larger gatherings often attract rarer Pokemon giving more incentive for players to join in.

Comicon representatives believe as many as two thousand people visited the park. They say they expected a couple a hundred players but that the turnout surprised even them.

The event likely helped to promote the Forest City Comicon which will run November 5th through the 6th.
