A Perth County man who sexually assaulted five young boys was sentenced Thursday to 29 months in prison.

With credit for time already spent in custody, Thomas Luckhart has 18 months of his sentence left to serve.

Luckhart, 55, pleaded guilty last month to seven sex-related offences, which occurred between 2003 and 2015, and all involved underage boys.

His trial heard that he was a respected businessman and community member in the community of Sebringville, northwest of Stratford.

According to court documents, most of Luckhart’s victims considered him a family friend.

Several of them were invited to his house to perform odd jobs.

Thursday’s sentence was much closer to the one suggested by the Crown – 21 months, plus time served – than that of Luckhart’s lawyer, who suggested eight or nine months plus time served.

Luckhart has been in custody ever since his July 2015 arrest.
