TORONTO - A new survey suggests around one in three Canadians will be skipping the mall this year and doing all their holiday shopping online.

The poll conducted by Ipsos Reid on behalf of Google found a majority of Canadians still plan to fight the crowds in stores.

But many said they would be doing research online first so they could minimize their time spent window shopping in packed malls.

The poll results also suggest this year's Black Friday and Cyber Monday shopping days could be bigger than ever in Canada.

About 44 per cent of the poll respondents said they planned to shop on one or both of those days.

According to MasterCard, e-commerce now represents about 6.7 per cent of total retail sales in Canada and is up 22.6 per cent compared to this time last year.
