The Middlesex- London Health Unit says five people have died in the past week as a result of the influenza virus.

In their weekly update, the health unit reports 32 new cases of influenza between April 14 and April 20.

Of those, five have died, while 18 have been admitted to hospital. All of the 32 cases were of the influenza B strain.

Since September, there have been 172 hospitalizations among 339 confirmed influenza cases. Fourteen people have died.

Influenza vaccinations are still available at the Middlesex- London Health unit, or you can find a flu shot clinic by visiting the Ministry of Health’s website.
