OPP have identified those involved in a two-vehicle collision in Elgin County on Wednesday evening that left a four-month-old infant dead.

The crash happened at the intersection of Ron McNeil Line and Yarmouth Centre Road, northeast of St. Thomas, around 7 p.m.

Police say a southbound Chevrolet pickup failed to stop at a stop sign and t-boned a silver Dodge SUV that was eastbound on Ron McNeil Line.

Both vehicles ended up in the ditch southeast of the intersection following the impact.

As a result of the crash police say a male infant was taken to hospital in critical condition and later died from his injuries.

The boy, who was in a car seat behind the driver, has been identified as Carstyn Tremblett.

The driver of the SUV, 35-year-old Valerie Hurley of London, was taken to hospital in serious condition, while a 33-year-old male passenger, John Tremblett, also of London, was taken to hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the pickup truck, a 68-year-old man from Malahide Township, was taken to hospital in serious but stable condition.

An investigation into the collision continues and police say charges are pending.
