Officials at London's Fanshawe College bed bugs are the reason for a recent closing of their library.
On Thursday the library was closed for three hours for posted maintenance. During this time a company came in to conduct a cleaning. The library has since reopened.
Officials say staff members have been made notified and students are being told if an item they’ve returned is found to have bed bugs in it.
Health officials say there have been no cases of bed bugs spreading disease to humans but the bugs can be a source of stress and can affect mental health and wellness.
Bed bugs in libraries is not uncommon. Back in June all Essex County library branches were closed for several days to deal with a bed bug infestation.
