A home in Walter's Falls has been destroyed after a fire on Monday afternoon, Grey County OPP say.

Police and Chatsworth and Grey Highlands fire crews were called to the scene on Front Street around 12:30 p.m. on Monday.

Officials say a family of three was alerted to the fire by a smoke detector and was able to get out without injury.

The 1.5 storey, board and batten farm house was destroyed as a result of the fire.

Officials say the blaze is believed to have started due to a wood furnace in the basement.
