A new approach by city hall will give residents of the Old East Village a strong voice in a multi-million dollar redevelopment project.

City hall will purchase Lorne Avenue public school after it closes next year.

Old East Village Community Association is seeking a neighbourhood representative to join city hall's team to evaluate proposals for the property.

Having a member of the public on a committee usually reserved for city staff first proved successful last year during planning for the former Sherwood Forest public school.

Candidates interested can apply to Old East Village Community Association by August 31.
