Two people have been pronounced dead following a collision overnight at the intersection of Dundas Street and Highbury Avenue.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at 1:55 a.m. Thursday after two vehicles violently collided at the intersection.
Police now say there were four people in an eastbound Buick travelling through the intersection.
A southbound Dodge Charger was seen travelling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop, colliding with the Buick.
Two passengers in the back of the Buick were killed.
The driver and another passenger in the front were seriously injured.
The driver of the Charger was the sole occupant of that vehicle and is listed in critical condition.
The crash left one vehicle annihilated with debris scattered down Highbury Avenue for about 100 metres.
The second vehicle crashed into a house near King Street and Highbury Avenue, causing some damage to the brick and concrete porch of the home.
Collision Reconstruction officers are on scene and the intersection has been closed.
"The vehicle that was travelling on Highbury was travelling at a high rate of speed. We have witnesses that have made some observations prior to the collision of that vehicle being operated. So, right now, we're relying on witness accounts to be able to tell us the speed of that vehicle. We don't have a definitive speed at this point in time. Our investigation will hopefully reveal that in the coming days," says Sgt. Amanda Pfeffer, London Police.
Highbury Avenue is closed from Oxford Street to Florence Street.
The closure is expected to last until sometime into the afternoon.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call police at 519-661-5680.
