A Shrewsbury woman has been charged with resisting arrest, after allegedly stealing coils of copper cable.
Chatham-Kent police conducted a traffic stop Sunday night, following a tip about a suspicious pickup truck. The vehicle was pulled over on Gregory Line east of Prince Albert Road.
According police, when the officer spoke with the female driver they noticed large bolt cutters and coils of copper cable. However, when the officer went to arrest the woman, she allegedly tried to put the truck in drive.
The woman had to be removed from the vehicle and was searched. Police say they discovered a hammer, and two socket wrenches.
Brenda Summerfield, 50, is charged with possession of break-in tools and resisting arrest. Summerfield has since been released on the condition to appear in court.
